About St Thomas'
St Thomas' is an English speaking Methodist Church in Lampeter, a small town in the south of Ceredigion.
The first Methodist Church in Lampeter was built in 1806 located in what are now the grounds of the University. On our current site, a Welsh speaking Methodist church was first built in 1828, and rebuilt in 1875. In 1983, for a variety of reasons, the then members asked for the church to be transferred to the English-speaking Circuit.
Over the years, the building had developed significant faults and with a local membership of only 22, the brave decision was taken to knock down the building and rebuild on the same site. During the months of the demolition and rebuilding, from May 1991 to November 1992, we held services in St Peter's Church hall, by kind permission of our Anglican friends. In December 1992, this building was opened.
Since that time we are delighted to say that our membership and attendance has increased and we are now a thriving family church with members from a wide variety of church backgrounds and from all over the world.
St Thomas offers a warm, welcoming and social space with the Tuesday Coffee morning. Serving tea, coffee and biscuits (10am-12pm). The church is registered with the national Warm Hub Network and with Connect Ceredigion’s Warm Spaces project.
St Thomas’ respects ALL aspects of ALL people including race, ethnicity, faith, gender, identity, orientation, neurodiversity, mental or physical health, family circumstance, social or economic background, age, ability, and size.
THIS IS A SAFE SPACE TO BE WHO YOU ARE
St Thomas' is committed to marriage equality and we are registered to conduct same-sex marriages
